Alternative Format Materials Request Form
Many students who register with SAEO are approved for print materials in an alternative format in order to assist them with accessing their course work at VCU. These items may include textbooks, articles, and other various items that need to be formatted so that students may use screen readers, text to speech software, and/or magnification software in order to access their course materials.

How to request alternative media for your textbook
- Log into the Student Accommodate Portal.
- On the left-hand side of the webpage, select Accommodation.
- On the left-hand side of the webpage, select Alternative Format.
- You will see two options under the “current” term section:
- Official Text: This will show the textbook we currently have on file for the courses you’re enrolled in. Select “Request” under the textbook information. You’ll need to answer the questions and upload a receipt (proof of purchase) to submit the request officially.
- Student Entered: Select “Upload Document for Alternative Format Request”. You’ll need to answer the questions and upload a receipt (proof of purchase) to submit the request officially.
- Official Text: This will show the textbook we currently have on file for the courses you’re enrolled in. Select “Request” under the textbook information. You’ll need to answer the questions and upload a receipt (proof of purchase) to submit the request officially.
